Sorento doesn’t make sweeping changes in 2015, but that’s because this crossover utility vehicle had a major refresh in 2014. Other than the front grille/lower valance slightly changing in appearance for 2015, the Sorento stays the course. A one-week test drive showed off the vehicle’s strong points. It’s a comfortable riding vehicle that offers four trim choices (LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited). The 106.3-inch wheelbase Sorento has crisp handling. That’s attributable to its independent MacPherson front/independent multi-link rear suspension and its electric motor driven power steering that provides comfort, normal and sport modes via the available Flex Steer system.

Power for the Sorento is supplied by either a 191 horsepower/181 pounds-feet torque 2.4-liter four cylinder, or a 290 horsepower/252 pounds-feet torque 3.3-liter V6. Both engines mate to an electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission. Sorento rides on 17-, 18- or 19-inch wheels. The versatile five-door offers optional third-row seating. With all seating rows down, there’s 72.5 cubic feet of cargo room. Front wheel drive is standard while full-time all wheel drive is optional. The test-driven Kia Sorento SX Limited with AWD carries a MSRP of $41,700 and collects fuel economy ratings of 19 city/25 highway.
