The 2015 Ford Edge is reformatted with a makeover that touches everything from the platform (now shared with the Ford Fusion) to the exterior styling and interior presentation. The latest technical gadgets are still in-play. But revisions mean the driver can opt to interface with the audio and heating/cooling systems via actual buttons/knobs versus the previous vehicle’s touch- sensitive controls. During a one-week test drive of the crossover utility vehicle, this driver liked the ease of using physical buttons for quick adjustments. The tested Edge was flush with technology features, including heated/cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and 180-degree front camera with washer (a first-time Ford vehicle application).
Edge is powered by a choice of three engines: a 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder (245 horsepower at 5500 rpm/275 lb-ft torque at 3000 rpm); a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 (315 horsepower at 4750 rpm/ 350 lb-ft torque at 2750 rpm); and a normally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 (280 horsepower at 6500 rpm/250 lb-ft torque at 4000 rpm). The 2014 Edge offered a 240 horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder; a 285 horsepower 3.5-liter V6; and a 305 horsepower 3.7-liter V6. The 2015 engines mate to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The 112.2-inch wheelbase Edge is available in four trims: SE, SEL, Sport, and Titanium (a first-time Edge offering). Front wheel drive Ford Edge-Titanium with 2.0-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine collects estimated mpg of 20 city/30 highway and carries an MSRP of $35,600.
