Subaru’s performance-oriented Legacy 3.6R Limited model is equipped with a new standard sound system for the 2012 model year. This harman/kardon audio system includes AM/FM, single-disc CD player with Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, USB port, auxiliary input jack, 4.3-inch LCD display, HD Radio, 9 speakers as well as satellite radio. (Every Legacy Premium and Limited model offers two new audio system choices for 2012.) The upgraded sound system adds another appealing layer to the Legacy’s interior, which was revamped when the third-generation model launched in 2010. The 2012 Legacy provides an additional free month of XM Select Satellite Radio service for factory-equipped models.

The Legacy 3.6R is still powered by a gutsy horizontally opposed (Boxer) 6-cylinder that dishes up 256 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 247 pounds-feet of torque at 4400 rpm. Engine mates to a 5-speed electronic controlled automatic transmission with manual mode steering wheel paddle shifters. The 108.3-inch wheelbase Legacy sedan is exceedingly roomy. Even rear seat occupants are spoiled with nearly 38 inches of legroom. There is also a fair chunk of trunk space (14.7 cubic feet). All Subaru Legacy models add fog lights as standard fare for 2012. The all-wheel drive Legacy 3.6R Limited collects estimated fuel economy of 18 city and 25 highway and carries a MSRP of $28,595.
