After checking out the interior and exterior visuals of the Enclave, it’s nearly impossible not to like the sights. But the Buick Enclave has a lot more going for it than just a shapely vehicle with tight fit and finish. The highlight among the new for 2009 items is more power as the Enclave’s direct injection 3.6-liter V6 pumps out 288 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 270 pounds-feet of torque at 3400 rpm versus the prior model year’s V6 producing 275 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 251 pounds-feet of torque at 3200 rpm. Other changes for the 2009 Enclave include standard Bluetooth capability (making hands-free phone calling possible) and the entertainment package now offering a 110-volt inverter (making it possible to charge up portable electronic devices).

Enclave is a roomy crossover vehicle, providing three rows of seating. Getting into the very back 60/40 split-fold bench seat is relatively easy. A handle-pull tilts and slides the second row seat, providing a large gateway from the second to the third row. The roominess doesn’t ignore space for boxes, sports equipment, and groceries. With all three rows in the upright position, the cargo space (with cargo management system removed) is more than 24 cubic feet. When second and third row seats are folded flat, the cargo space exceeds more than 115 cubic feet. The front wheel drive Buick Enclave CXL with six-speed automatic transmission carries a suggested MSRP of $37,380 and estimated per gallon numbers of 17 city and 24 highway.
