Simply eXcellent, that’s the 2008 Turbo X. This Saab really lathers on the power, and it’s just intensified in the black dressing of the leather seats, the dashboard and reinforced with the jet-black metallic exterior. Turbo X celebrates the 30th anniversary of Saab turbocharging. The sport-tuned chassis has been lowered by 10 mm and uses stiffer dampers and springs to intimidate any body movements. Turbo X’s exterior is distinctive, including its rear fascia and exhaust tips, the unique rear spoiler and the titanium-finish exterior trim. Saab’s cross wheel drive debuts on the Turbo X, the Sport Sedan and SportCombi in 2008. This all wheel drive system is activated only when needed. It features rear-wheel engagement to buttress the traction at take off, and there’s also an electronically controlled rear limited slip differential that allows variable torque transfer between the rear wheels.

The power erupting from Turbo X is from a 24-valve V6 that produces 280 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 295 pounds-feet of torque between 2150 and 4500 rpm. Built in Sweden, Turbo X’s frame rides on 18-inch Pirelli P-zero Nero performance tires adorned with 6-spoke alloy wheels. Options on the limited edition Turbo X include a touring package (rear parking assist, rearview mirror with compass and more) as with as a cold weather package (including heated front seats and high-pressure headlamp washers). With 6-speed manual transmission, the 9-3 Turbo X sport sedan picks up estimated mpg of 15 city and 24 highway. The car’s MSRP is $42,510, which includes the destination fee.
