The 9-3 sport sedan is a spectacular road warrior, and for the past 3 years the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has bestowed the car with its Top Safety Pick designation. For the 2008 model year, the 9-3 adopts the styling cues shown via the Aero X concept. That means the re-styled 9-3 looks sensational. Exterior revisions include new doors and color-matched handles, new front fenders, new front end, larger grille, new headlamps and taillights. Standard fare attributes now include OnStar, XM Satellite, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The 9-3 2.0T features a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine producing 210 horsepower and 221 pounds-feet of peak torque, while the 9-3 Aero is fitted with a 2.8-liter V6 engine that produces 255 horsepower (5 more horsepower than 2007) and 258 pounds-feet of peak torque.

Saab 9-3 showcases Bose’s new Centerpoint surround sound system, and the sound is about as close to being tailor-made as possible since more than 1,000 measurements were done inside the car to access cabin acoustics. The sound system is standard on Aero Sport Sedan and SportCombi and optional on the 2.0T model. Beyond the new sound system, the interior has been heavily modified via new trim, a bigger instrument cluster, and much more. MPG estimates for the 2.0T sports sedan with 5-speed manual transmission are 19 city/29 highway, while the 6-speed automatic transmission has mpg of 19 city/26 highway. MSRP of the 2.0T 9-3 sport sedan with 5-speed automatic is $27,640.
