Since hitting the roads during its 1994 introduction, the Chevy Tahoe has been a dynamite full-size sport utility vehicle. For the 2007 model year, Tahoe further improves its disposition with a complete makeover. The all-new product gives ample attention to safety – including a stiffer, fully boxed frame and available roof-mounted head curtain side airbags for all rows – as well as the interior. Among the cabin zone highlights is the power-release fold and tumble second row seats that make the third row seat entry/exit so much easier. (Just be sure head and body parts are out-of-the-way as once the button is pressed, the automatic seat tumble and fold process is quick.) Other in-vehicle revisions include a larger rear seat DVD screen (now 8 inches), power lift gate, and auxiliary-input jack for MP3 listening via the audio system.

Tahoe 2WD is powered by a standard 4.8-liter V8 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 290 torque, while the 4WD is powered by a standard 5.3-liter V8 that produces 320 horsepower and 340 torque. The body-on-frame Tahoe with the 5.3-liter engine can tow up to 7,700 pounds. Both engine choices mate to a Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission. The top of the line Tahoe equipment package (the LTZ) offers new accents like chrome grille insert, chrome door handles, and a covered center console. New and/or substantially changed items for 2007 include power running boards that automatically deploy when doors are opened, heated front and second-row seats, a rearview camera system, touch screen navigation, and remote vehicle starting system. MSRP is $33,990 for Tahoe LS, $35,740 for Tahoe LT, and $44,015 for Tahoe LTZ. The 2007 Tahoe 4WD with 5.3-liter engine collects per gallon fuel estimates of 15 city and 21 highway.
