Loved the look. Loved the ride. Loved the drive. The Chrysler 300M Special scored on all fronts. This is one great car. The power packaged in 300M Special is moving – 255 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 258 pounds-feet torque at 3950 rpm. (For those that keep track, the 3.5-liter V6 is the most powerful single overhead cam engine yet for the automaker.) Automatic transmissions with a manual shifting option have been unimpressive – and that’s been expressed in past reports. But the AutoStick transaxle in the 300M Special had a great flow through the gears. The first Chrysler to offer a factory-installed Sirius satellite radio is the 2003 300 M.

The interior of the sedan is as sweet looking as the aerodynamic exterior. The four-gauge cluster is backlit with a soft green hue. A traditional-styled clock is positioned in dashboard center. Seats are comfortable. The ‘extra’ touches include lighted grab handles in the rear with separate coat hooks. 300M Special records fuel economy numbers per gallon of 18 city and 27 highway. The sedan rides on 18-inch wheels and Michelin tires. A tire pressure monitoring system that provides an overhead console digital readout of each tire’s pressure is standard fare. 300m Special makes all the right moves. MSRP is $32,215.
