It’s a full redesign for the 2024 Ford Ranger. For the fifth-generation pickup truck, Ranger drops the SuperCab version. The performance-slanted Raptor joins the Ranger line-up of XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. A week-long test drive highlighted a very comfortable and steady ride, enhanced by a two-inch longer wheelbase (now 128.7 inches), wider front and rear tracks (now 63.8 inches), and the rear shocks and mounts being moved outboard of the frame rails. Ranger also gains additional ground clearance (now 9.3 inches) versus the prior model.

The tested 4x4 Ranger was powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder that releases 270 horsepower and 310 torque. There’s also a twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 producing 313 horsepower and 400 lb-ft torque as well as the performance-stroked Raptor with its exclusive twin-turbo 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 dishing out 405 horsepower and lb-ft 430 torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard. Features on the Ranger Lariat cabin include a 12.4-inch vertical touchscreen display versus the prior model’s standard 8-inch screen, heated steering wheel, and new fold-flat rear seats. Tested Ranger SuperCrew 4x4 Lariat has a base MSRP of $47,115 and collects estimated mpg of 20 city and 24 highway.
