It’s called staying power, and the ability to stay relevant happens when a product has merit. Chrysler’s minivan has had merit for years. In celebration of its 35th year, the automaker offers the 35th Anniversary Edition Pacifica and plug-in Pacifica Hybrid minivans. During a week long test drive of the 2019 Pacifica Hybrid, the big take-aways: great mileage, brisk acceleration, and a seamless, automatic switch from all-electric driving to conventional hybrid driving. A new for 2019 offering is the S Appearance Package, which includes Nappa leather bucket seats with “S” logo, 18-inch wheels, and black exterior and cabin accents.

The Pacifica Hybrid is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 with Atkinson-cycle and two electric motors. Engine is paired with an electrically variable transmission. Hybrid battery pack consists of 96 lithium-ion cells for 16 kWh of total energy. The 121.6-inch wheelbase front wheel drive minivan has three rows of seating for seven occupants. Behind the third row is 32.3 cubic feet of space. Maximum space behind front row with rear seats folded is 140.5 cubic feet. Tested Pacifica Hybrid Limited has a base MSRP of $45,395. The hybrid minivan has an 82 mpg equivalent (MPGe) for combined city/highway driving. The all-electric range is about 32 miles.
