Chrysler unveiled its all-new Pacifica minivan in the 2017 model year, and the hoopla included 37 segment-firsts. Pacifica is indeed a marvel. A week-long test drive showcased the abundant space (thanks to power-folding seats) that can be accessed via the hands-free movement of the sliding side doors--a kicking foot motion under a side door or bumper opens the door, or the lift-gate. The list of standard and optional features is mind-boggling and includes upgraded Stow ‘n Go seating, all-new Uconnect rear seat entertainment, Stow ‘n Vac integrated vacuum, and 3-pane panoramic sunroof.
Powering Pacifica is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine releasing 287 horsepower and 262 pounds-feet of torque. The engine mates to a 9-speed automatic transmission. (Note: The industry’s first electrified minivan is offered via the Pacifica Hybrid.) New for 2018 items include standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (all trims) as well as select features being available on more trims. Pacifica is sold in 6 trims: L (new for 2018), LX, Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and the top-of-the-line Limited. The tested 121.6-inch wheelbase Pacifica Limited carries a base MSRP of $43,695 and collects estimated mpg of 19 city/28 highway.
