The redesigned Nissan Rogue registers a number of smart improvements. For starters, the Rogue now offers optional third row seating. And surprisingly, the third row is more than just a fashion statement. Front seat occupants enjoy 43 inches of legroom, while second row passengers claim 37.9 inches of legroom. The third row’s 31.4 inches of legroom is ample for smaller kids, making this 106.5-inch wheelbase Rogue a consideration choice for families. Rogue designers and engineers made some nice changes for 2014, including giving the driver and front passenger a version of the Altima sedan’s NASA-inspired zero-gravity seats. And, EZ Flex seating means all but the driver’s seat folds down, providing a way to transport extra-long items.
Rogue is powered by a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder that produces 170 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 175 pounds-feet of torque at 4400 rpm. Sold in three trims (S, SV, and SL), Rogue comes standard with front wheel drive, while all wheel drive is optional. Standard four-wheel independent suspension, electric power-assisted steering, and Vehicle Dynamic Control with traction control help make the Rogue a really nice handling vehicle. Cargo space with second and third row folded down is 70 cubic feet. The test driven Rogue SV with all wheel drive, 4-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT) collects estimated mpg of 25 city and 32 highway and carries a MSRP of $25,840.
