Infiniti M35 gets a bit spunkier in the 2009 model year with a 3.5-liter engine pumping out 303 horsepower (versus the 2008 model’s 275 horsepower) and 262 pounds-feet of torque. (The 2008 model’s 3.5-liter V6 had slightly more torque at 268.) Other new-for-2009 upgrades include automatic speed-sensing door locks and a self-healing clear-coat paint finish. The midsize sedan is definitely quick on the power meter, but the car’s superb ride and handling—attributable in great part to the independent double wishbone front and multi-link independent rear suspension—is immensely pleasurable. Infiniti’s Rear Active Steer system (part of the $1,650 Sport Package) adds a welcome driving assist by adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension based on steering input and vehicle speed.

The technology treatments on the Infiniti M35 are well suited to the car’s sporty-luxury character. Standard equipment includes a driver’s seat with two-position memory for entry-exit assistance as well as memory for side mirrors and steering wheel setting, fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and intelligent key with push button start. Infiniti M35 is offered in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with either a V6 or a V8 engine. The 2009 rear wheel drive M35 with V6 engine and 7-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive transmission has fuel economy estimates of 17 city and 25 highway and a suggested base retail price of $45,800.
