The power brokers at Nissan have finally opted to offer an additional engine choice on the Pathfinder SUV. So instead of just offering a V6, the 2008 model year means a choice of V6 or V8. It’s the first time Nissan has offered up a V8 in the 22-year history of being in America. The 5.6-liter V8 ushers in 310 horsepower and 388 pounds-feet of peak torque, and for the tow haulers that V8 power means a 7,000-pound towing capacity versus a 6,000-pound towing capacity when the SUV is fitted with the 4-liter V6 with 266 horsepower and 288 pounds-feet of peak torque. The Pathfinder is sold in 6 models, and all versions come with standard three-row seating and a full-size spare tire. A one-touch release lever located on the 40/20/40 split-fold second row seat aids access to the third row seat.

The 2008 fully boxed, all-steel ladder-frame Pathfinder features new styling via the front and rear ends, grille, hood, bumpers and lift-gate. New-for-2008 features also spotlight available 18-inch wheels as well as interior revisions. For instance, the cabin features a new instrument panel center stack, new heated steering wheel (except LE models), new standard 7-inch information display with rearview monitor (expect S-V6), and a new leather interior color (russet). The navigation system has been upgraded with a 9.3-gigabyte music box hard drive and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system. The 4x4 Pathfinder SE-V8 gets estimated mileage of 12 city and 18 highway and carries a MSRP of $32,850.
