The all-new 2007 Chrysler Sebring Touring underscores the power of subtle persuasion. Start with the exterior, and it’s hard to ignore the sculptured hood and body-side lines. Move to the interior, and it’s easy to appreciate a flawless design of simplicity. Three dominant oversized gauges provide a green hue backlight at night. (The green hue also illuminates knobs and dials.) The cabin also spotlights an upper dash clock, heated/cooled cupholders, and smartly placed interface points. Chrysler’s new midsize sedan’s seats deserve special praise for their stain-resistant, odor-resistant, anti-static fabric. The seats are also very comfortable, and for an extra $250 heated front seats are possible. There is roominess in the rear seat, and the shapely headrests add to the interior’s understated style.

Sebring Touring gives ample attention to safety aspects, providing standard side curtain and front seat-mounted side air bags. Electronic stability program with traction control and anti-lock brakes are optional. The midsize car is offered with three engine choices: a 3.5-liter V6, a 2.7-liter V6, and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. The 4-cylinder (produced in partnership with Hyundai and Mitsubishi) gains 13 percent horsepower when compared to the predecessor engine. Commonly referred to as the World Engine, the new 4-cylinder engine snags 172 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 165 pounds-feet torque at 4400 rpm. It’s a great power provider and when matched with the four-speed automatic transmission, the per gallon fuel count is a respectable 24 city and 32 highway. MSRP of Sebring Touring with 4-cylinder is $19,520.
