Rondo serves up space for passengers with out screaming: Look at my mighty size. The front wheel drive transporter with independent front and rear suspensions is available as a five- passenger or seven-passenger vehicle. That third row 50/50 split seat has 32 adjustable configurations as well as the ability to be folded flat. That means a lot of stow space – 35 cubic feet – when the second row seat also is in the horizontal position. (With third row seat upright, Rondo has 6.5 cubic feet of stow space.) Rondo shares its engine, transmission and several chassis components with the new Kia Optima. The crossover vehicle’s power supply is via a 2.4-liter, 162 horsepower 4-cylinder, or a 2.7-liter, 182 horsepower V6 engine.

Kia’s Rondo is available in LX and EX trims. The EX trim offers up a slew of standard fare, including 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, electronic brake distribution and electronic stability control; six airbags; roof rails; fog lights; cruise control; air conditioning; tilt steering column; and AM/FM/cassette/CD/MP3 audio system with six speakers. When powered by the V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, the steel unibody Rondo collects mile per gallon fuel economy of 20 city and 27 highway. The new Rondo sports a 106.3-inch wheelbase, which makes this vehicle a capable highway hauler. MSRP of Rondo EX with V6 and automatic transmission is $20,195.
