Every year since the Subaru Impreza debuted, there’s at least one new reason to be impressed. For 2007, adding the Impreza 2.5i Sedan Special Edition simply increases the adoration level of the spunky yet serious nameplate. The special edition Impreza supplies several features as standard fare – including a power moonroof, a 120-watt AM/FM premium stereo featuring a 6-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3/WMA capability, Sirius satellite radio availability and automatic climate control – beyond the base 2.5i sedan’s appointments. This newest Impreza also gives the boot to the ashtray, opting to put an auxiliary audio input in the smoker’s spot.

The Impreza is powered by a 4-cylinder, horizontally opposed boxer engine that produces 173 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 166 pounds-feet of peak torque at 4400 rpm. Standard transmission is a five-speed manual. Like all other vehicles in the Subaru line-up, the special edition Impreza is an all-wheel-drive monster. Road grip – and that includes handling response – is further enhanced via a sturdy body structure consisting of a hydroformed front subframe and tailor blank-welded side sills. The special edition Impreza with manual transmission earns estimated mile per gallon numbers of 22 city and 29 highway. Impreza’s MSRP is $17,995. (The special edition’s suggested price tag adds $2,000 to that MSRP.)
