The 2007 Ford F-350 defines bigness. But the brute-factor increases when the truck is equipped with dual rear wheels (aka the F-350 dually). This is just one enormous vehicle, so it’s not surprising that this truck can haul. When properly equipped, the F-350 with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine (which debuted in 2003) can tow as much as 15,000 pounds with a conventional hitch. Put another way, the F-350 Super Duty – a designation for trucks over 8,500 pounds – is best in class for maximum payload (5800 pounds) and for maximum towing capability (19,200 pounds). The diesel engine, now emissions compliant in all 50 states, provides 570 pounds-feet of torque at 2000 rpm and 325 horsepower at 3300 rpm.

MSRP of the F-350 dually Crew Cab XLT is $36,940. Opt for the 6.0-liter V8 diesel engine and the price tag jumps $4,950. For those wanting a real workhouse engine, this diesel is an able qualifier. Of course, the new 6.4-liter Power Stoke V8 diesel engine that will be available on 2008 model year Super Duty trucks will pump up the power quotient: 350 horsepower at 3000 rpm and 650 pounds-feet of torque at 2000 rpm. In the meantime, the 2007 diesel engine and truck are a good combination. The standard equipment list for the 2007 F-350 includes steel wheels, 60/40 flex-fold rear bench seat, front tow hooks, cruise control, cargo box light, four-wheel anti-lock brake system, 38-gallon fuel tank, and trailer towing package.
