The front wheel drive Sedona is larger and wider than its predecessor. That translates to about 15 percent more passenger room in the 2006 three-row minivan versus the previous version. Among the new features: a third row (a 60/40 split bench) seat that folds into a bin to provide a flat cargo floor. When the second row seats are removed and the third row is folded flat, the cargo volume is 141.5 cubic feet. Folding those third row seats is accomplished via pull straps. There are plenty of cupholders throughout the vehicle, including three for the third row passengers. The Sedona is a roomy passenger vehicle, but it’s also a very capable cargo hauler. Sedona first reached the marketplace in 2001, but the 2006 version is an appreciated update.

For one thing, the 2006 minivan sports a new engine. The 3.8-liter, 24-valve V6 produces approximately 240 horsepower at 6000 rpm – that’s about a 25 percent improvement from the last engine – and about 251 pounds-feet of torque at 3500 rpm. Engine mates to a five-speed automatic transmission. Kia Sedona is also a bit lighter (now 4,387 pounds as a standard curb weight), which means with the new engine, the minivan has more ‘get up and go’. And the stopping distance has improved because of larger diameter front disc breaks and solid rear disc brakes. The steel unibody Sedona is available with power sliding side doors and power liftgate. MSRP of the Kia Sedona LX is $23,195.
