This is the kind of car a buyer wants for an everyday fun-yet-practical odometer mover. Stratus coupe didn’t change much for the 2004 model year, but that’s not an issue when a car is already a solid offering. (A new for ’04 feature is a satin silver finish on the center dash and door trims, and the Beltminder seatbelt reminder is now standard fare.) Stratus R/T is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 that throws out 200 horsepower and 205 pounds of peak torque, and that’s an ample amount of accelerant for this 2-door. That power is especially well defined via the engine/exhaust tone, which is exceedingly tone perfect at take-off.

The standard fare list is fairly inclusive via air conditioning, steering wheel audio controls, AM/FM radio with in-dash 4-disc CD player, remote keyless entry, rear reading lamps, full-length center console with cupholders, tinted windshield glass, fog lamps, 12-volt power outlet, trunk lid spoiler, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and more. The only feature that seemed out-of-place: a super-sized steering wheel. Stratus R/T with five-speed manual transmission grabs mile per gallon numbers of 20 city/29 highway. The coupe has a base price of $22,600.
