As one of my all-time favorite vehicles, the Grand Vitara for 2003 impressed me even more because of its delightful interior makeover. The colors look lively, the dials are bigger on the completely new dashboard and console, and the new in-dash CD with 7 speakers compliments the welcoming aura. And that ‘look-at-me’ greeting is apparent even before Grand Vitara’s cluster readout spreads a digital ‘hello’ across the cluster panel to coincide with the driver’s entry. Suzuki Grand Vitara’s interior makes all the right moves. One nit-picky exception is the shifter boot material covering often pushes flat to reveal its bolts/nuts underbelly.

To support the visual draw, Grand Vitara provides ample body stretch-out room for all occupants. The storage zones are plentiful, including a padded, adjustable center armrest that doubles as a CD storage compartment. With a standard V6 engine, the SUV is not power poor, pumping out 165 horsepower (at 6500 rpm) and 162 pounds-feet torque (at 4000 rpm). The SUV handles well – whether taking on hilly straight-aways or responding to a tight turn command (turning circle is less than 35 feet). Suzuki Grand Vitara 4WD’s standard fare list includes cruise control, tilt steering wheel, split-fold rear seat, retractable cargo cover, and air conditioning. MSRP of the 4-door with 4WD Grand Vitara is $18,199.
