First off, the all-new Infiniti G35 sport sedan recognizes the importance of a classy, smartly appointed interior: the pop-up navigation viewer is located in an easy eye scan location (center dashboard console), the driver seat controls (off right side of seat bottom) are not located in an awkward-to-reach access area, and tilt adjustment of the steering wheel also re-positions the entire four-gauge instrument cluster. For all the positive aspects of the interior and there are plenty of other great features the car is not without irritants: those great-positioned seat controls are also dirt collection bins because the levers are in pockets, and the headliner surrounding the sunroof on the test car lacked a stay-in-place fit.
From a power/performance standpoint, the G35 hits a bulls-eye. The 3.5-liter V6 produces 260 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet torque, and it roars with a suggestive engine growl that really captures a great tone for this four-door with a newly developed four-wheel independent multi-link suspension. Standard transmission is an electronically controlled five-speed automatic with a drivers choice upshift/downshift manual mode. G35s exterior style is inviting, and the rear LED taillights leave a lasting, favorable impression. Fuel economy numbers are estimated at 19 city/26 highway. Option packages include a $425 sport tuned suspension with 17-inch aluminum alloy sport wheels. MSRP for G35 sedan with leather is $28,950.
