The Texas-sized tires give a pretty good clue that this sport utility vehicle is far from average. First off, all-new Cadillac Escalade provides a beautiful ride. The handling is equally terrific. And the high-perch ride gives a grand scan of the surroundings. Because the vehicle is so large, it’s easy to feel separated from passengers, especially passengers in the removable third row of seats. (Occupants in front and second rows can opt for seat-heat.) As Cadillac’s first SUV, Escalade pours on the power. The all wheel drive version sports a 6.0-liter V8 that produces 345 horsepower, while the V8 in the rear wheel drive version generates 285 horsepower. (Both engines mate to an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission.)

Cadillac Escalade offers an array of standards, including rear seat audio and earphones, steering wheel audio controls, audio system with cassette and 6-disc CD, and the Onstar communication system with one-year premium service. As is the case with many SUVs, fuel economy is not a reason for buying or leasing. Escalade taps fuel per gallon numbers of 12 city/15 highway. The fully boxed, ladder type SUV has a maximum trailer towing maximum of 7,700 pounds for 2WD and 8000 pounds for AWD. The suggested retail price is $50,285.
