Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) underscore the 2024 Kia Forte’s safety-minded disposition. This four-door — like many other vehicles — provides standard safety protection via dual front airbags and dual front seat-mounted side and full length curtain airbags. But a week-long Forte GT test drive provoked adulation of the sedan’s various standard fare ADAS technologies, including navigation-based smart cruise control with stop and go, driver attention warning, and blind spot collision avoidance assist.
Powering the Forte GT is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 201 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 195 lbs-ft of torque between 1500-4500 rpm. (Forte is also offered with a 2.0-liter 147 horsepower/132 torque four-cylinder engine.) The Forte GT engine mates to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Forte provides 35.7 inches of legroom for rear seat occupants and 15.3 cubic feet of trunk space. The tested 106.3-inch wheelbase Forte GT collects MPG of 27 city and 35 highway and carries a base MSRP of $24,690.
