Toyota RAV4 SUV now offers an off-road edition. Known as the Woodland Edition, this specially outfitted 2023 RAV4 is Toyota’s first off-road hybrid. The Woodland’s off-road attributes are plentiful and useful, including Falken Wildpeak all terrain tires, underbody skid plate, all-weather cargo mats, dual black chrome-tipped exhaust, and black mud guards. A week-long test drive underscored the TRD-suspension tunings. Whenever the SUV encountered potholes or oversized bumps, the off-road tuned twin-tube shocks and springs mightily tamed the body sway/roll.

Powering the tested Toyota RAV4 Woodland Edition was a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that gets assist from two electric motors to produce a combined output of 219 horsepower at 5300 rpm. The fifth-generation hybrid RAV4 has an electronic continuously variable transmission and electronic all wheel drive. RAV4 Woodland Edition is offered with three exterior color options: Midnight Black Metallic, Cavalry Blue, and Ice Cap. The tested 105.9-inch wheelbase RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition has a MSRP of $33,025 and collects estimated MPG of 38 city and 35 highway.
