There’s no denying the Nissan Armada is big-big-big. That’s the underlying takeaway following a week-long test drive of the automaker’s 2023 full-size SUV. Field of vision is big. Ground clearance is significant at more than 9 inches. The 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is large and reigns as the segment’s biggest. Cargo space is sufficiently cavernous with 16.5 cubic feet when third row seat is upright, 49.9 cubic feet with third row seat folded, and 95.4 cubic feet with second and third row seats folded. The biggest change in 2023 for the body-on-frame Armada is the addition of Amazon Alexa Built-In on SV, SL, and Platinum grades.

The 121.1-inch wheelbase Armada is powered by a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 that smashes out 400 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 413 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Engine mates to a 7-speed automatic transmission with downshift rev matching. Maximum towing capacity for Armada is 8,500 pounds. The tested Armada Platinum was equipped with the optional Captain’s Chair Package in the second row, taking the 8 passenger vehicle to a 7 passenger hulk. Tested 4WD Armada collected estimated mpg of 13 city and 18 highway with a base MSRP of $69,720.
