All wheel drive capability is a new offering for the 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid, a still shiny and new SUV that showcased its 4th-generation masterpiece in 2021. During a week-long 2022 Sorento Hybrid test drive, the vehicle displayed lively acceleration and strong stopping performance. Sorento offers USB chargers for first, second and third row occupants and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is a first for a Kia SUV. Standard and available driver assist technologies include safe exit assist, lane keep assist, lane following assist, and blind spot collision avoidance assist.

The tested Sorento was powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gas direct injection engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor that provide a combined 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Engine mates to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 110.8-inch wheelbase Sorento serves up 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space with third row seat upright, more than 38 cubic feet with third row folded, and 75-plus cubic feet with second and third rows folded. Sorento has five trim levels (LX, S, EX, SX and SX-Prestige). The tested 2022 Sorento Hybrid EX with front wheel drive has a MSRP of $35,990 and collects estimated mpg of 39 city and 35 highway.
