Nissan’s Titan full-size pickup truck is absolutely loaded with safety features. The standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 bundles six advanced driving assist systems, such as blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and rear automatic braking (class-exclusive). Titan beefed up its headlight coverage with the low-beams now seeing 120% more. Night vision was one of many improvements resulting from the truck’s 2020 model year redesign. A week-long test of the 2021 Titan included hours of night-time driving that showed how these headlights give the high-stance truck dramatically better road views in the dark.
Titan is powered by a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 that grabs 400 horsepower (10 more since the 2020 redesign) at 5800 rpm and 413 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Engine mates to a 9-speed automatic transmission versus the former 7-speed automatic. The infotainment interface is a standard 8-inch touchscreen and an optional 9-inch touchscreen. Titan is offered in 4X2 and 4X4 configurations. The Titan Pro-4X 4X4 version provides various off-road attributes, including hill descent control, Bilstein mono-tube off-road shocks, and an available locking rear differential. The tested 2021 Titan Pro-4X collects estimated mileage of 15 city/20 highway and carries a base MSRP of $50,290.
