With its debut in the 2020 model year, the all-new Kia Telluride made quite an entrance. Other than adding the Nightfall Edition package for the 2021 model year, the midsize SUV is unchanged. And, that’s just fine. Telluride is a big vehicle at 16.4-feet long, but it doesn’t handle like a loose and lanky lad. A week-long test drive demonstrated how this three-row vehicle has mastered multiple tasks. Nimble handling is complimented by a smooth ride, thanks to a four wheel independent suspension, a self-leveling rear suspension, and a body that extensively uses advanced high strength steel.

Powering Telluride is a 3.8-liter V6 producing 291 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque at 5200 rpm. Engine mates to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The three-row SUV has roominess to spare, providing ample second seat legroom (42.4 inches) and enough third row legroom (31.4 inches) for an adult. Cargo space is 87 cubic feet behind front row, 46 cubic feet behind middle row, and 21 cubic feet behind the third row. The 114.2-inch wheelbase vehicle provides 8 inches of ground clearance and four driving modes: smart, eco, sport, and comfort. Tested Telluride SX with all wheel drive carries a base MSRP of $44,090 and estimated fuel economy of 19 city and 24 highway.
