Ford launches a grand slam hit with its next-generation F-150. The reimagined 2021 full-size pickup truck is a stalwart performer. Payload rating is 3,325 pounds. Its 14,000-pound maximum towing is an 800-pound increase from the prior model. (F-150 full hybrid has a maximum towing of 12,700 pounds.) V6 and V8 engine options remain, while the newly added full hybrid powertrain provides the most torque of any F-150 engine. For XLT and higher trims, the F-150 debuts a 12-inch center touchscreen. In split-screen mode, the user can simultaneously control multiple functions, such as navigation and audio. Also available on F-150 XLT and higher trims is a new 8-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Among the new standard features are over-the-air updates and SYNC 4 wireless connectivity.

A week-long test drive of F-150 4x4 SuperCrew showcased the all-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo PowerBoost full hybrid V6. It produces a whopping 430 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 570 lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpm. Engine mates to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 145-inch wheelbase full-size pickup truck was exceedingly quick and tidy with acceleration and braking demands. The completely redesigned vehicle is the most aerodynamic F-150 yet. That’s largely attributed to active grille shutters, active air dam, and new cab and tailgate design lines. The tested 2021 F-150 4x4 SuperCrew carries a starting base MSRP of $49,250 and collects estimated mpg of 24 city/24 highway.
