Just a couple of years after its U.S. debut, the Chevrolet Trax gets a design refreshening, including an all-new front-end appearance, alterations to the rear fascia and taillights, and new gauge display. Cosmetic changes aside, this small crossover utility vehicle demonstrated impressive maneuverability on highway hikes and city treks during a week-long test drive. Trax’s new 7-inch infotainment system enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity in addition to available 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot.
Powering Trax is an EcoTec 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 138 horsepower at 4900 rpm and 148 pounds-feet of peak torque at 1850 rpm. Engine mates to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 100.6-inch wheelbase Trax is offered with front wheel drive or all wheel drive configurations in three trims: LS. LT, and Premier (replacing the LTZ). There is nearly 19 cubic feet of cargo space behind the upright rear seat and more than 48 cubic feet with rear seat folded. Front wheel drive Chevy Trax LT carries a MSRP of $22,900 and collects mpg of 25 city/33 highway.
