As a crossover luxury utility vehicle, the 2017 Infiniti QX50 is a powerhouse. The QX50’s handling dynamics and its powertrain performance were impressive during a week-long test drive. The vehicle’s recent size-stretch is also a very likable attribute. In the 2016 model year, the QX50 increased in overall length 4.5 inches (from 182.3 inches to 186.8 inches), and its wheelbase was stretched 3.2 inches (from 110.2 inches to 113.4 inches). With second row seats upright, the QX50 has 18.6 cubic feet of cargo space. And second row seat passengers are less cramped thanks to a 4.3-inch gain in legroom compared to the prior version. During short commutes and long drives, the QX50 set a tone of comfort with its lush cabin and on-demand acceleration.

QX50 sports a 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 325 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 267 pounds-feet of torque at 5200 rpm. The engine mates to a 7-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with manual shift mode, DS mode for downshift rev matching, and adaptive shift control. QX50 has an independent front double wishbone suspension and an independent multi- link rear suspension. Rear wheel drive is standard, while intelligent all wheel drive (with snow mode) is offered. The 2017 Infiniti QX50 AWD collects estimated mpg of 17 city/24 highway and carries a MSRP of $36,250.
