The 2017 Dodge Journey crossover midsize utility vehicle gains a new trim, the GT. Beyond that change (GT replaces R/T as the top-tier trim), Dodge Journey is essentially unchanged, and it’s last major overhaul was in 2011. The Journey provides practicality with a standard two row seating layout or optional three rows of seating. It’s offered in 2WD or all wheel drive. During a week-long test drive, Journey performed its tasks with ample space for passengers and cargo. Second and available third row seats fold to provide more than 67 cubic feet of cargo space.

Journey GT is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 283 horsepower at 6350 rpm and 260 pounds-feet of torque at 4400 rpm. The engine mates to a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. With a 113.8-inch wheelbase and optional 19-inch wheels, the vehicle isn’t flashy nimble, but its curb-to-curb turning diameter of 39 feet was enough for most tight-turn situations. The tested Journey GT Blacktop AWD model carries a MSRP of $33,895 and collects estimated mpg of 16 city/24 highway.
