The third-generation Sedona minivan, which Kia refers to as a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), debuts as a 2015 model. Compared to its predecessor, the latest Sedona has a longer wheelbase (120.5 inches versus 118.9 inches). The 2015 Sedona also has more legroom for first, second, and third row occupants. Second row passengers have adjustable overhead vents for heated and cooled air. The test driven 2015 model showcased surprisingly good maneuverability with a 36.8-foot curb-to-curb turning diameter. (The 2014 model has a 39.6 feet curb-to-curb turning circle). Sedona adds three trim levels: L, SX, and SX Limited. LX and EX trims are still offered. All Sedona model trims offer 60/40 split-fold third row seats that can be stowed below the cargo floor via pull straps.
Front wheel drive Sedona is powered by a 3.3-liter V6 that produces 276 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 248 pounds-feet of torque at 5200 rpm versus the 2014 model’s 3.5-liter V6 engine that releases 269 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 246 pounds-feet of torque at 4500 rpm. The 2014 Sedona collected estimated mpg of 17 city/24 highway, while the 2015 Sedona SX collects estimated mpg of 18 city/25 highway. The 2015 Sedona is the first Kia vehicle to offer Geo- fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score as part of the vehicle’s eServices features. New optional drive assist technologies include Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning System, and Blind Spot Detection. MSRP of Sedona SX Limited with V6 and 6-speed automatic transmission with Sport-Matic is $39,700.
