F-150’s complete makeover makes the 2015 model a game-changer. For the first time, the F-150 full-size pickup showcases an aluminum body. The 2015 pickup also features more high strength steel (rated up to 70,000 psi) in its fully boxed ladder frame. Compared to the 2014 model, the 2015 is about 700 pounds lighter. And this trimmed-down truck--which has reigned as America’s best-selling vehicle for 32 years--has been transformed into quite the nimble-handling hauler. Sold in regular cab, SuperCab (extended cab) and SuperCrew (crew cab), the F150 comes with standard rear wheel drive or optional 4x4.
F-150 is powered by choice of 4 engines (282 horsepower 3.5-liter V6; 385 horsepower 5.0-liter V8; 365 horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and the new 325 horsepower 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6). The new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine is fitted with standard Auto-Start Stop technology. The 4x4 SuperCrew Platinum’s cabin defined maximum plushness, especially the heated/cooled/ massaging front seats, throughout a one-week test drive. Five model trims are offered: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. MSRP of the base model is $25,800. The test driven 157-inch wheelbase F-150 with 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 collected estimated mpg of 17 city and 23 highway.
