The calling card for Infiniti’s FX37 is its sportiness. This midsize crossover is nimble on the streets, especially curves. Its double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension underpin the FX’s sporty attitude. The FX37 is a new designation for 2013, replacing the FX35. (FX35 was powered by a 3.5-liter V6 producing 303 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 262 pounds- feet of torque at 4800 rpm. The FX50 remains in the line-up with a 390 horsepower 5.0-liter V8.) Infiniti’s FX37 uses a 3.7-liter V6 that releases 325 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 267 pounds-feet of torque at 5200 rpm. Available in rear wheel drive and all wheel drive, the FX’s advanced technologies include lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and distance control assist.
While FX37’s performance is noteworthy, the utility side of the equation is a bit pinched. Passengers found getting into and exiting the rear seat to be a tiring exercise of bending and stooping. (Rear legroom is 34.6 inches versus 44.7 inches in the front, while rear headroom is 38.5 inches compared to 39.3 inches in the front.) The FX37 provides 24.8 cubic feet of cargo space when the 60/40 split-folding rear seat is upright and 62 cubic feet when rear seat is folded down. The Infiniti FX37 all wheel drive with 7-speed automatic transmission collects estimated mpg fuel economy of 16 city and 22 highway and carries a MSRP of $45,750.
