Once behind the wheel of the CC, it’s not easy to unglue from the seat. Not in the literal sense, of course. But this four-door with coupe curves is so much fun to drive. And with a re-freshening of the interior for the 2012 model year (including a new analog dashboard clock), it’s time well spent inside the Volkswagen CC. The 2012 CC is offered in six unique models, including the test driven Lux Limited with its power-tilt panorama sunroof and real wood interior trim elements with aluminum accents. CC is comfortable for all occupants, who sit within individual bucket-style, side-bolstered seats. The heated front seats provide standard 12-way power adjustment. And, there’s no need to stuff items in the laps of passengers as the trunk provides more than 13 cubic feet of space.

The CC offers two engines: a 200 horsepower/207 pounds-feet of torque 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder, or a 280 horsepower/265 pounds-feet of torque 3.6-liter VR6. Engines mate to a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic with Tiptronic. (Sport and R Line models use a six-speed manual transmission.) The sport-tuned suspension uses a strut-type configuration with coil springs, telescopic dampers, forged aluminum control arms, and anti-roll bar in the front. Rear suspension components are mounted in a steel subframe. The electro-mechanical, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system with variable speed assistance puts the driver in permanent ‘smile-mode’ as the steering is essentially precision perfect. CC Lux Limited with 4-cylinder engine collects estimated mpg of 22 city/31 highway and carries a MSRP of $34,665.
