The BMW 7-Series sedan line-up is 15 models strong. But the 750i and the 750Li are the first 7-Series models to offer the automaker’s xDrive all wheel drive. The system dispenses road grip via a 40:60 split front-to-rear. But when sensors pinpoint wheel slip, the xDrive system varies the distribution of drive power between front and rear axles. This intelligent AWD system further supports BMW’s ‘ultimate driving machine’ moniker. A 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 muscles the 750Li. The engine generates 400 horsepower from 5500 to 6400 rpm and 450 pounds-feet of torque from 1750 to 4500 rpm. On the test driven 750Li, the 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift modes precisely handled the acceleration commands.

For the 2012 model year, the 750Li gets an iPod/USB adapter, sport steering wheel and rear view camera as standard equipment. In addition, V8-powered 7 Series models add 19-inch wheels with all-season tires and a premium high fidelity sound system with HD radio to the standard features list. The 750Li xDrive sedan puts a big accent on pleasantries for all occupants, including doors that softly close automatically, heated front seats, illuminated vanity mirrors for rear passengers, illuminated exterior door handles as well as a power trunk lid. The BMW 750Li collects estimated mpg of 14 city/20 highway and carries a MSRP of $91,200.
