For people who feel too confined within an SUV’s cabin, the Escalade ESV is the answer. It’s bigger than big. It’s football field big. As the extended length version of the Escalade, the Escalade ESV is nearly two feet longer than the Escalade. (Ok, to be precise, the ESV is only 21 inches longer than the standard Escalade.) There’s plenty of passenger room in the ESV. But for those who want to haul cargo (not passengers) in luxurious style, remove the third row seat and fold the second row for more than 137 cubic feet of space. When packing the ESV with people, third row passengers have their own entertainment source: an 8-inch overhead flip-down screen.
Powering the Escalade and Escalade ESV is a 6.2-liter all-aluminum V8 that pumps out 403 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 417 pound-feet of torque at 4300 rpm. The flex-fuel engine (which can run on unleaded gasoline or E85 ethanol) is matched to a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission. As big as the Escalade ESV is, the engine/transmission combination does a dandy job of making this vehicle move when the accelerator is depressed. The all wheel drive Escalade ESV Platinum Edition means the addition of heated/cooled cupholders, olive ash and walnut burl interior accents, and several other upscale features. That same vehicle collects estimated mpg (gasoline) fuel economy of 13 city/18 city and carries a MSRP of $87,345.
