As the newest addition to the Cadillac stable, the CTS luxury sports coupe doesn’t skimp on the technical features. The exterior is void of traditional door handles, so the process of opening a door occurs after slipping a hand into the door ‘gap’ to activate an electronic touch-pad. Exiting the vehicle means touching a push-button door release—a discrete black button with a white dot. Other high-profile gadgets include a pop-up navigation screen, adaptive forward lighting system, integrated iPod/MP3 capability, and a rear vision camera system. The safety features include roof-rail side curtain airbags (for front and rear seat occupants) and a segment-first application of a dual-depth front passenger airbag.

Although the CTS coupe shares the CTS sport sedan’s wheelbase (113.4 inches), the overall height of the coupe is about 2 inches lower and the overall length is about 2 inches shorter. The CTS sedan’s influence is evident on the coupe, including a shared instrument panel, console, and front fender and grille. But the B-pillar-less CTS coupe cuts a unique presence in several ways including rear fascia with mesh grilles, dramatic slant of the windshield and near-horizontal rear glass as well as the previously mentioned touch-pad exterior doors. CTS coupe is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 providing 304 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 273 lbs-feet of torque at 5200 rpm. The engine mates to either a standard Aisin 6-speed manual or an optional Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic. Estimated per gallon fuel economy is 18 city/27 highway when fitted with the automatic transmission. The MSRP of CTS Coupe with automatic transmission is $47,010.
