Here’s a sedan that is instantly likeable on all levels of evaluation. The Lincoln MKS makes the driver and front passenger immensely comfortable via the 12-way power seats that have up, down, inboard and outboard lumbar adjustments as well as standard controls for heated and cooled seats. MKS also has heated seats for back seat occupants who access their seats via the largest rear door opening in its vehicle class. Nighttime driving is enhanced via adaptive headlamps that use electric motors to pivot the left headlamp up to 5 degrees and the right headlamp up to 15 degrees. Sensing technology on the high beam headlight system detects taillights (from a distance of roughly 500 feet) and oncoming headlamps (from a distance of about 2,000 feet), and that means automatic dimming of the high beams to the low beams. Other equally impressive technologies included as part of the Ultimate Package (carrying a $5,715 price-tag) are rain-sensing wipers and a forward sensing system. (The front fascia conceals four sensors that detect objects that are 1,500 feet from the car, providing a helpful assist when parking the car.)

Other best-in-class wins for the MKS are its interior volume (more than 105 cubic feet) and its trunk space (more than 18 cubic feet). The new, fully independent rear suspension on the MKS puts the vertically mounted shock absorbers at the outboard end of the suspension arms. For the first time, Lincoln (via the MKS) uses an injection-molded rubber dash panel to block wind and powertrain noise. Powering the Lincoln MKS is a new 3.7-liter V6 that produces 272 horsepower at 6250 rpm and 270 pounds-feet of torque at 4250 rpm. The engine mates to a 6-speed automatic with Select Shift. Lincoln MKS has estimated per gallon fuel economy of 17 city and 24 highway for the front wheel drive model and 16 city and 23 highway for the all wheel drive model. MSRP of the MKS with all wheel drive is $39,555.
