When I think hot, red is the color that first comes to mind. But the Jetta GLI Fahrenheit makes a convincing case for the “steamy hot” power of . . . yellow. The Jetta GLI Fahrenheit is a limited edition sedan. (Each car’s unique number is etched in the lower portion of the steering wheel on a yellow faceplate.) The presence of yellow floods the exterior, but red is accented via the exposed brake calipers as well as a red ‘highlight’ that surrounds the grille. Interior-wise, yellow dressing is seen on the steering wheel stitching, the gearshift bag stitching, and select panel trims. Beyond the inside-outside yellow fever, Fahrenheit-specific features (at no extra charge) include unique 18-inch alloy wheels with anti-theft locks, and an in-dash CD changer.

The test-driven car – number 5 of 1,200 – was seriously hot for a realistic reason: It’s a blast to drive. The seats are supportive, even during extended drive times. The six-speed automatic transmission was a great match for the 4-cylinder engine that produced 200 horsepower between 5100 to 6000 rpm and 207 pounds-feet of peak torque. The four-door was spacious for front and back seat adult occupants. Trunk space was also immensely abundant. The Jetta GLI Fahrenheit packs a number of features as standard equipment, but the 6-speed automatic transmission is a $1,075 option. The estimated mileage count for the test-driven car was 25 city/32 highway. MSRP of the Jetta GLI Fahrenheit is $27,880.
