It’s a good thing the new Expedition accents a quieter cabin because it’s great to be able to converse without shouting to the third row passengers. Sound deadening materials in the headliner and carpet, added insulation in the dashboard and elsewhere as well as thicker side glass represent a few of the noise-be-gone alterations. Both the third row and 40/20/40 split-fold second row bench seats can fold flat to the load floor. When it comes to getting comfortable, the 2007 Expedition has vastly improved the seats with better contours, larger bolsters, and softer cushions. Not to be ignored, the driver’s seat rearward track gains about _ of an inch. With larger ducts/vents, and a new compressor, the climate system can warm the interior and defrost the windows in quicker fashion than the previous Expedition.

The seven-passenger Expedition is powered by a 5.4-liter V8 that produces 300 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 365 pounds-feet of torque at 3750 rpm. The engine is teamed with a six-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The 119-inch wheelbase Expedition is fitted with larger front and rear brake calipers. Safety features include a rollover detection system, AdvanceTrac with roll stability control, and side airbags. Five wheel design choices are offered on the full-size SUV with a 28-gallon fuel tank. The 4x4 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition carries estimated per gallon fuel estimates of 14 city/20 highway and a MSRP of $38,475.
