My parents recount having a two-door Dodge Charger in the early 1960s. When they saw the 2007 Charger, they didn’t recognize it as a Charger. That’s to be expected when 45 years have elapsed and the newest Charger is a four-door muscle car. Today’s Charger offers three engine choices: the 2.7-liter V6 (new for 2007), a 3.5-liter V6 and a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. With a rear wheel drive set-up, the new Charger mimics the past generation Charger. (The new Charger also is available in all-wheel-drive.) Another new for 2007 feature is an AM/FM/6-CD player with full map DVD map and GPS.

Charger is a blast to drive: easy-to-steer, on-demand acceleration, efficient brakes, and a nice ride. The dream cruiser’s near 50-50 weight distribution is an underlying reason why the car handles so well. There are all sorts of options (and packages) for the Charger, including Sirius satellite radio for one year ($195), and a comfort seating group that features leather bucket seats, power adjust front seats, power adjust pedals and more ($1,395). When equipped with 3.5-liter V6 and five-speed automatic transmission, the car tallies estimated per gallon fuel numbers of 19 city/27 highway. The MSRP for Charger SXT with 6-cyclinder engine is $22,800.
