Following a complete interior and exterior re-do in the 2004 model year, this year’s MPV changes in only minimal ways. Features include a new retractable key, and a new optional compass/outside temperature display on the auto-dimming, HomeLink- connected rearview mirror. In addition, rear air conditioning becomes a stand-alone option on the LX version. All MPVs’ come with four captain chairs that are fitted with fold-down armrests on both seat sides. The second row chairs can be removed, folded to reveal a slightly indented table-tray on the backside, moved fore and aft, or bunched together to create a bench seat. MPV’s third row bench seat can be tilted 90 degrees to provide for tailgate seating, or the bench can be folded flat into a recessed well.

MPV is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 that spins out 200 horsepower and 200 pounds-feet of peak torque. Engine mates to a 5-speed automatic transmission, but the steering column mounted shifter obstructs the hand from directly accessing radio and air conditioning controls. The front wheel drive minivan can tow 2,000 pounds. When specially equipped, MPV boosts the towing capability to 3,000 pounds. For shorter statue people, the minivan requires a bit of a leg stretch to get into and out of the vehicle via the dual sliding side doors. MPV reaps estimated mile per gallon numbers of 18 city/25 highway. The MSRP is $22,940.
