The Cadillac Escalade is a big vehicle. That’s great since no one should be complaining about lack of roominess amid a slew of seats across three rows. New for the 2004 model year is a no cost choice for second row seating of either bucket seats or bench seat. Other 2004 items include a now standard trailering package as well as a tire pressure monitoring system. XM satellite radio also moves to the standard fare list, making music listeners extra happy when in the mood for a select type of music – say everything 80s – as part of the 100 channel music/talk/sports/news offerings. Although a nice feature to have song titles displayed via the audio interface, a lack of space shortens certain titles. (That means Mick Jagger’s "Just Another Night" becomes something unprintable in this space.)

Escalade is powered by a 295 horsepower V8 for rear wheel drive models, and by a 345 horsepower, 380 pounds-feet peak torque V8 on all wheel drive models. With a four- speed electronic transmission and V6 engine, the vehicle achieves mile per gallon fuel economy estimates of 13 city/17 highway. Standard fare on Escalade includes rear seat audio, all weather 17-inch radial tires, road sensing suspension, OnStar (with one year of directions and connections), power adjust foot pedals, 10-way power front seats with heated cushions and backrests, and removable third row seats with split fold. MSRP is $54,880.
