From the storage aspect alone, the Honda Pilot has a place for all things. Behind the first row seats, there’s more than 90 cubic feet of space. Whether it’s passengers or cargo – second and third rows can fold flat – there’s plenty of room. Passengers can truly take in the out-of-vehicle views via raised theater style seating; second row seats are about _-inch higher than the front seats and third row seats are about 2 inches above first row seats. A center console gives first row passengers handy storage space via covered compartments. As a bonus, the sturdy pull-cover can handle the weight of additional travel items. Second row passengers can put items in the mesh net pockets on the backsides of the front bucket seats. All seats come with headrests, and there’s even a dedicated spot – beneath a hinged door in the rear cargo floor – for stowage of headrests.

Pilot is powered by a 240 horsepower, 242 pounds-feet of peak torque 3.5-liter V6 engine that mates to an electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission. When the driver steps into the accelerator, the Pilot eagerly grasps the request for immediate speed. The vehicle’s advanced four-wheel-drive system, Variable Torque Management, essentially serves to deliver power to all four wheels during acceleration and when wheel slippage is detected. Fuel economy per gallon is estimated at 17 city/22 highway. Noise and vibration is nearly unnoticeable inside the Pilot, and that’s due in part to fully isolated front and rear sub-frames. Designed and developed by Honda engineers in Ohio and California, Pilot EX-L with rear entertainment system (a fold-down unit behind front row seats) has a MSRP of $32,020.
