Upgraded for the 2003 model year, the new GTX Ram Air stage three package lets loose with 270 horsepower – a whopping increase of 30 horsepower when compared to the stock 3.8-liter supercharged V6 Pontiac Grand Prix. The gusto-dressed performance package includes a cat-back dual exhaust, Hypertech power programmer with SLP custom calibration, and a 180-degree thermostat. According to SLP Engineering Inc.’s Reg Harris, "We believe there is a market for sub-$30,000 true American sport sedans with excellent handling, improved braking characteristics, and increased engine output."

SLP’s burly GTX has enough zip that more than once during a one-week test drive, driver and passengers checked the four-door sedan for wind damage. For bragging rights, the GTX offers appropriate namesake reminders: exterior badges, embroidered GTX on open headrest front seats, and key chains. The equipment list includes burled wood interior trims, GTX floor mats, 16-inch tires, rear spoiler, and graphics on hood and rear deck lid (stripes that progress from thin to wide). For warranty and service needs, SLP is responsible for the vehicle systems affected by its alterations for 36 months from the original manufacturer’s in-service date or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
