The automaker that brought the first factory-installed supercharged compact pick-up truck to market in 2001 offers a Supercharger Value Edition (SVE) in 2003. Buyers can choose the SVE version on either Nissan Frontier 4 x 4 King Cab or the 4 x 4 Crew Cab models. Rather than a 3.3-liter SOHC V6 producing 180 horsepower and 202 pounds-feet torque, the supercharged V6 garners 210 horsepower and 246 pounds-feet torque. The SVE model features 16-inch alloy wheels, a full-size spare tire, skid plates for engine and fuel tank, sliding rear window, power windows/doors/locks, and more.

Nissan Frontier’s exterior sets an immediate tone of strength – via elements like the exposed fender flares trimmed in visible bolts and front grille with a roll-bar-like appearance – that carry through to the interior. The cabin includes vibrant and appropriate-positioned gauges (rpm, speedometer, oil temperature and fuel level) adjacent to an attractive center stack adorned with sturdy-sized buttons and dials. As a four-passenger pick-up truck, the King Cab has two full size seats and two jump seats. One especially nice touch is the placement of two hooks (great for holding plastic grocery bags) below the rear window. Nissan Frontier has outstanding ride/handling and steering response. When the supercharged V6 mates to an automatic transmission, mile per gallon estimates are 16 city/20 highway. MSRP of the 2003 Frontier 4 x 4 SVE is $22,459.
