For the 2003 model year, Eclipse now has a fourth trim level choice – the GTS. As a fully loaded vehicle, the Eclipse GTS features 17-inch wheels, steering wheel mounted audio controls, in-dash 6 CD player, fog light package, and many more appointments. The test drive car, sporting an interior offset by a two-tone dashboard (deep black and dark blue) accents an environment that is simple without being simplistic. All interior interfaces make sense, so it’s an easy reach to audio controls or a quick glance at the oversized speedometer or rpm gauges to monitor vehicle conditions.

The GTS version of the three-door coupe is powered by a variable intake 3.0-liter V6 that produces 210 horsepower and a peak torque of 205 pounds-feet at 3750 rpm. Eclipse GTS is available in four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. For a fast-paced coupe, the mileage numbers are fairly decent with estimates per gallon of 21 city/28 highway when equipped with manual transmission. But this stylish speed machine – with an updated front and rear look for 2003 model year – positions its rear spoiler in a bit of a vision-blocking locale. Suggested retail price of the Eclipse GTS is $24,197.
